Avalanche Men's Volleyball Signs 6'7 Outside Hitter Finn Brandsma for 2026/27 Season
The College of the Rockies Avalanche Men's Volleyball Program is excited to announce the signing of Finn Brandsma, a 6'7 outside hitter from Chilliwack, BC, who will join the team for the 2026–2027 season. Brandsma graduated from Abbotsford Christian in 2024 and played the 24-25 season for the Trinity Western Spartans and will be coming in as a second year eligibility.
Brandsma enters the Avalanche program with an outstanding record of both individual and team accomplishments. A dominant presence at the high school level, he is a three-time High School Provincial All-Star, a two-time Best of the West MVP, a High School East Valley All-Star, a Club Provincial All-Star, and the U16 Tier 2 Gold MVP. His team achievements are equally impressive, including a Junior High School Provincial Championship, a Grade 12 Provincial Silver Medal, a Best of the West Championship, multiple tournament all-star selections, a U16 Tier 2 Gold Medal, a U18 Provincial Championship, and a U18 Best of the West Championship.
Brandsma shared that his decision to join the Avalanche was an ideal combination of athletics and academics. "I chose College of the Rockies to pursue my passion for mechanics while continuing my volleyball career in a competitive, high-level program," said Brandsma.
Avalanche head coach Cisco Farrero expressed his excitement about adding such a high-impact athlete to next year's roster. "Finn is a phenomenal pickup for our roster for next season and will be bringing a very high-level game to our gym," said Farrero. "He has a world-class shoulder and his 6'7 frame, athleticism and volleyball IQ will make him an impact offensive contributor in the PACWEST. Finn has a quiet confidence in his abilities at all facets of the game and his skillset and commitment to greatness will shine on a daily basis as a member of the Avalanche. Our AST program here at the college lines up perfectly with Finn's interests in mechanics and the automotive field and I'm thoroughly excited about the opportunity to work with Finn next year."
Brandsma will enter the Automotive Service Technician program at College of the Rockies, further aligning his academic goals with his athletic ambitions. He becomes another major addition to the Avalanche's growing 2026/27 recruiting class, bringing exceptional size and skill to the program.
