This award is presented to student-athletes who have achieved honors standing at their institution based on their cumulative GPA in a minimum of 27 credit hours

Scholarship Awards
Freshman Athletic Award (Winner will receive a $500 Bursary at the COTR Academic Awards Ceremony)
The award is presented to a first-year student-athlete who consistently demonstrates contagious energy, outstanding commitment, and excellent sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of being 'Small College Proud' while contributing positively to the Avalanche Athletic Program.

Moving Mountains Award
This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve honours standing in academics. This award will be presented to the student athlete that was registered in a minimum 24 credit hours and obtained the highest GPA.

Hannah Zurakowski
Hannah set the standard for our program this season through her consistency, leadership, and passion for the game. She showed up every day with the same level of enthusiasm, effort, and competitiveness, making a lasting impact across both practices and matches. She led by example while also taking ownership of her teammates' growth, fully investing in helping those around her improve. Her passion for volleyball is evident in the energy and joy she brings to the court, and it continues to elevate our program. Balancing a demanding schedule of academics and work, Hannah remained committed to performing at a high level every day. Her dedication, leadership, and consistency made her an invaluable part of our team this season.
Most Improved
Cate Rapin
Cate made significant strides in all areas of her game this season. She consistently holds herself to a high standard and rings a strong work ethic and positive attitude that elevates those around her. Her commitment to improvement is evident both on the court and in the classroom, where she continues to excel as one of our top academic performers. Cate's growth and dedication have made her a key part of our program this year.
Rookie of the Year
Isla Roden
Isla made an immediate impact in her first season, showing a strong commitment to improving every day. She embraces feedback and applies it right away, demonstrating a disciplined approach and understanding that growth takes time. Her work ethic and fearless attitude on the court have driven her development and helped elevate those around her. Isla has also excelled in the classroom, earning top marks while balancing the demands of her first season.

Kayla truly embodies what it means to be a part of our program, consistently living out our team values and going above and beyond expectations. She sets the standard for those around her through her actions, attitude, and commitment to the team. She brings positive energy into every environment, making others feel heard, valued, and inspired. Her passion shows through in her volleyball, academics, and relationships, and her presence has a meaningful impact on those around her. Kayla's resilience, authenticity, and genuine care for her teammates and community make her an outstanding representative of our program.

Most Valuable Player
Dylan Annala
Dylan put together a spectacular season and was named Pacwest Outside Hitter of the year, Pacwest First team all-star, Pacwest tournament all-star, Pacwest Player of the year, CCAA tournament all-star and CCAA all-canadian. A fearless competitor with a number of big time performances, Dylan led the Pacwest in Kills (309), aces (31) and total offence (379 points) and carried the Avalanche with a remarkable offensive consistency throughout the historic run to their first Pacwest conference title and CCAA silver.
Most Improved
Boston Thiessen
Boston took his game from good to great this season as the quarterback of the Avs historic offence in 25/26. Named Pacwest tournament all-star, Pacwest Setter of the Year and 1st team conference all-star, Boston improved statistically in assists, aces, digs and blocks from previous seasons while starting all 20 conference matches as the Avalanche had their best season to date with a 17-3 record, winning Pacwest gold and CCAA silver. A consistent competitor, Boston emulates the Keep Climbing team motto by committing himself to constant improvement at all facets of his game.
Rookie of the Year
Kolton Wildeman
Kolton took advantage of opportunities on the court to show that he will be able to make a significant impact in the Pacwest for years to come. Across 12 matches Kolton totalled 20 kills and 5 aces and brings a consistent fire and focus to training. A classic example of an unheralded performer on a championship caliber team, Kolton will be exciting to watch as his career unfolds.
Avalanche Award
Reece Clarke & Diego Policarpo
Reece put together his finest on-court season in his 5th year winning Pacwest libero of the year while being named a 2nd team conference all-star and a CCAA tournament all-star. Reece is also a standout performer in the classroom and will be graduating from his second program at the college and leaves COTR as the all-time leader in sets played. A captain of the Avs, Reece is the ultimate example of persistence, resilience and commitment to all phases of being a top-tier student athlete.
Diego leaves COTR as the most decorated on-court Av of all-time and despite battling injury in his 5th season, still put together a tremendous season. Diego was named a 1st team Pacwest all-star for the 4th time, CCAA tournament all-star and MVP of the Pacwest tournament leading the Avalanche to their first conference title and CCAA silver. Consistent in the classroom and weightroom, Diego's commitment and sacrifice for his teammates and love for the game truly embodies what it means to be an Av. Graduating with a KIN diploma and as the all-time leading scorer in Avalanche history and all-time kills leader in Pacwest history, Diego has left an incredible impact on the college and the conference.
