College of the Rockies Avalanche Men’s Volleyball Signs Outside Hitter from Prince George

The College of the Rockies Avalanche Men's Volleyball program is proud to announce the signing of Emmett Russell, a 6'3" outside hitter from Prince George, British Columbia, for the 2026/27 PACWEST season.

Russell joins the Avalanche from Prince George Secondary School and the PGYVC Kodiaks, where he has served as team captain and established himself as a strong, dynamic attacker with a high volleyball IQ. Known for his athleticism, leadership, and energy on the court, Russell brings both physical tools and a team-first mindset to the Avalanche program.

Russell, who plans to study in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at College of the Rockies, said the decision to become an Av came easily after connecting with the team and coaching staff. "I chose College of the Rockies because of the amazing coaching staff, the strong and supportive team culture, and the small classroom sizes that create a great learning environment," said Russell.

Head Coach Cisco Farrero expressed his excitement about adding Russell to the roster, noting his physicality and potential. "I'm absolutely thrilled to add Emmett Russell to our program for next season," said Farrero. "He brings a tremendous physicality at the outside hitter position and that will serve him well in the PACWEST for years to come. A high-flyer with a cannon for a right arm, our coaching staff found him to be very coachable on his visit to Cranbrook and we are excited that our academics at COTR match up with Emmett's interests and that he fits well in our small-college community. A great addition to our team, I look forward to getting him into our gym."

Russell becomes the fourth addition to the Avalanche's 2026/27 recruiting class, joining setter Kio Kemp, middle blocker Jeffrey Brown, and outside hitter Caleb Gallagher as the program continues to build a strong foundation for future success in the PACWEST conference.
