The College of the Rockies Avalanche Men's Volleyball Program is excited to announce the signing of Dylan Taylor, a 6'5" middle blocker from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who will join the team for the 2026–2027 PACWEST season. Taylor comes to the Avalanche from J.H. Bruns Collegiate and the highly respected WinMan Volleyball Club, one of Canada's premier boys volleyball development programs.
Taylor has established himself as one of Manitoba's top young middle blockers, combining size, athleticism, and confidence at the net. Individually, he has earned recognition as a Grad All-Star, Central Showdown All-Star, and Tec Voc Tournament All-Star. His teams have also enjoyed tremendous success, including an undefeated Manitoba championship season at the 17U level, along with championships at Provincials and the Central Showdown tournament. Heading into his final club season, his 18U squad is once again considered one of the favourites to capture a provincial title.
Taylor said the opportunity to compete in British Columbia while continuing his academic and athletic development made College of the Rockies the perfect fit. "It's been my dream to play volleyball in BC since I was young, and to play on such a high-level team with amazing coaches checks all my boxes," said Taylor.
At College of the Rockies, Taylor plans to pursue studies in Kinesiology, with the long-term goal of becoming a physiotherapist.
Avalanche head coach Cisco Farrero is excited about the impact Taylor can bring to the middle blocker position. "We are stoked to add Dylan Taylor to our program to help round out our tremendous recruiting class," said Farrero. "He brings the length, quick arm, and confidence you look for in a middle blocker at this level. Dylan comes from the WinMan club in Manitoba, which is one of the best boys programs in the country and has sent a number of athletes to COTR over the years. Notable names include Reece Clarke, Hunter Jacobucci, and the Bowen brothers. Dylan's academic interest in Kinesiology lines up perfectly with the programming here at COTR, and I expect him to be a big part of our team going forward."
Taylor becomes another important addition to the Avalanche's impressive 2026/27 recruiting class, adding size, athleticism, and championship experience as the program continues building toward another PACWEST title push.
