Avalanche Women’s Volleyball Signs Versatile Attacker for 2026/27 Season

The College of the Rockies Avalanche Women's Volleyball program is excited to announce the signing of Bobbi Whipple, a versatile attacker from Lethbridge, Alberta, as the first official recruit of the 2026/27 class.

Whipple is currently competing in her senior season with the Chinook High School Coyotes, where she has excelled as an opposite hitter, outside hitter, and middle blocker. A respected leader and team captain, she has earned multiple all-star selections and MVP honours throughout her high-school career. Her athletic talent extends beyond volleyball as well—Whipple is also a decorated track-and-field athlete, demonstrating exceptional versatility and commitment to excellence.

For the past three seasons, Whipple has been a key member of Panthers Volleyball Club, where she is set to play her final U18 year. During her time with the club, she has helped lead her teams to three silver medals at premiers and provincial championships.

Whipple said the decision to join the Avalanche came naturally once she connected with the team and coaching staff.
"I am so extremely excited and grateful to have the opportunity to join the Avalanche Women's Volleyball Program next fall," said Whipple. "I felt welcome the second I stepped onto the COTR campus, and that's when I knew this was the place for me. I admire not only the team's success, but the amazing culture of the program as well. I'm very excited to learn from head coach Bryan Fraser, and I know he will push and support me to become the best athlete I can be."

Head Coach Bryan Fraser shared his enthusiasm for adding Whipple to next year's roster.
"I watched Bobbi at Nationals back in the spring and I was immediately impressed with everything she brought to the court," said Fraser. "She's a competitive athlete, a great teammate, and someone who truly values building strong team connections—something we prioritize within the Avalanche program. Technically, she's very solid, and I'm excited to help her elevate her game even further. Bobbi has an excellent volleyball IQ and I'm confident she'll adjust quickly to the post-secondary level. Academically, she's outstanding and will be joining a group of like-minded, driven student-athletes."

Whipple becomes the first official signing of the Avalanche Women's Volleyball 2026/27 recruiting class, marking a strong start as the program continues building toward another successful PACWEST season.
