The College of the Rockies Avalanche Women's Volleyball Program is excited to announce the signing of Katie Misfeldt, a dedicated and high-performance athlete who will join the program for the 2026–2027 season. Misfeldt began playing volleyball at the age of 12 and has steadily worked toward her goal of competing at the post-secondary level, developing into a well-rounded and driven player through both school and club volleyball.
Misfeldt represented her zone at the 2022 BC Summer Games as an underage athlete before continuing her provincial pathway in 2023 as a member — and team captain — of the BC Zone Team at the BC Cup. At the club level, she earned a bronze medal at D1 Provincials during her U16 season with Barn Owls Volleyball Club and has since been selected to attend both the U16 and U18 Team BC High Performance Camps. In high school, Misfeldt competed for George Elliot Secondary School, where she played during her Grade 11 and 12 seasons and served as a team captain in her final year. She will complete her final club season with Energy U18 Fire before arriving in Cranbrook next fall.
Misfeldt shared her excitement about joining the Avalanche after visiting campus and training with the team. She said she immediately felt a strong connection to the program and its culture. "After going on a visit to practice with the team and tour the campus, I especially loved the team culture and felt this team is a great fit for me," said Misfeldt. "Overall, I loved everything COTR has to offer, and I'm very excited to work with Coach Bryan and the team. Go Avs!"
Head Coach Bryan Fraser is enthusiastic about welcoming Misfeldt to the program, citing her mindset and commitment to development. "I'm thrilled to welcome Katie to our women's volleyball program next year," said Fraser. "From our very first conversation, it was clear she embodies everything we look for in a recruit. She brings a strong work ethic and a real eagerness to keep developing her game as we compete in a tough PACWEST conference. I'm excited to work with her next season and watch her grow both on the court and in the classroom."
Misfeldt becomes another strong addition to the Avalanche's 2026/27 recruiting class, continuing to build a group defined by work ethic, competitiveness, and long-term potential.
